What is art for you?

For me it´s something you can´t stop doing whether it´s rainy, sunny or cloudy…

It´s something you can’t stop thinking about…

It makes you sad if you want sadness and happy if you want some happiness too. The main issue is either ¨you paint or you die¨.

How did you approach art?

I started painting when I was 6 years old but at the age of 16 art hit me through listening to Blues music like a lightning hits a tree.

One night while lying on a bed in an old Castle in Switzerland, I dreamed that Stevie Ray Vaughan told me I had to play the Blues in all ways possible. So then I started with music and when it wasn’t enough, painting came along and has stayed in my heart and soul since then.

What things inspire you?

As I said, I´m always inspired by music and God knows I can’t paint unless some Blues, Country, Rock, Bluegrass, Country Blues, Gospel is being played.

What are the recurring themes in your work?

So many styles, so many things are always rumbling in my mind. But there’s something I paint frequently, that´s Faces in any way or form, and colors and shapes.

How would you describe your production process?

First of all, I decide if it’ll be on paper or on canvas, then I concentrate on the dimensions.

The second step is the topic, what I’m trying to say. Then the white canvas must be colored by a specific color.

The drawing is the third step and it´s the soul of the whole thing.

The rest of the painting is a matter of what comes through my mind in that moment. And let me tell you, that is one of the most awesome things a person can experience in life!

After drawing I start with acrylics and then oil colors.

The whole process takes place in mi personal studio.

How would you define your work in terms of tradition, style, school or trend?

I define myself as a figurative-abstract painter.

What has influenced you?

I would say Impressionism and Expressionism.

What artists from previous generations are you interested in?

I would say that I´m very fond of Chäim Soutine, James Whistler, Otto Dix, Lucian Freund, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Toulouse Lautrec, Jean Mitchell Basquiat among others.

What would you like to contribute to the world through your art?

I would like my work to reach everyone’s soul and to never be forgotten.
